Each tour takes approximately 3.5 hours, including the ferry trip to and from the Island (depending on the boat used, as travel times vary).

  • Disembark at Murray’s Bay Harbour on the east coast of the Island.

  • Take a short walk to the buses that transport visitors to the historical sites.

  • Along the way, you will pass buildings and a high wall built by prisoners during the 1960s.

  • These buildings were used for family and lawyer visits to prisoners.

  • Meet your Tour Guide once you have boarded the buses.

  • The prison tour will be conducted by a Robben Island Tour Guide as part of the integrated tour model.

  • The guides are knowledgeable about the Island’s multi-layered 500-year-old history.

The tour route includes:

  • Graveyard of people who died from leprosy
