Tranquillity on the Zambezi
Toka Leya offers front row seats to a daily wilderness spectacle on the banks of the Zambezi River.
Toka Leya is situated in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Zambia’s smallest park. With no large predators, it provides sanctuary to a variety of wildlife: notably Zambia’s only wild white rhino population. Toka Leya feels like a wildlife sanctuary in itself. Hippos come up to graze at night, while elephants are often seen padding silently through camp.
A sustainable luxury safari at Victoria Falls.
Elegant Toka Leya Camp, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, is the ideal luxury base from which to enjoy Mosi-oa-Tunya’s thrilling wildlife and adrenaline activities. Just a short drive from one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World – the majestic Victoria Falls – this sublime camp is a beacon of conservation tourism in Zambia.
Launch yourself into the gorge on a bungee jump, go white-knuckle white-water rafting, swing through the trees on a zipline, or see the Victoria Falls from above in a helicopter. Though just gazing rapturously at the Falls, as David Livingstone and others did centuries ago, is pleasure enough.
Toka Leya has a featherlight footprint on the environment. The airy and luxurious lounge, dining area, bar and pool deck, and 12 generous tented suites, are raised on wooden decks so as not to disturb the parade of wildlife. All offer wondrous views over the Zambezi River and the local hippos, crocs and elephants coming to drink. Three of the suites are family units with an extra bedroom.
Our Toka Leya food experience is a feast for the senses. The menu is inspired by seasonal organic produce and traditional Zambian cuisine. Sample a tasting basket over lunch, or enjoy a delightful high tea served on the banks of the Zambezi. Don’t miss our legendary wood-fired pizza after sundowners toasting a glorious sunset over the river.
